Electronic cigarette products are considered drugs in Australia, and their packaging must comply with the CRP requirements specified in sections 8, 9, and 10 of the Therapeutic Goods Act No. 95- Child Protective Packaging Requirements for Drugs (TGO 95).

Packaging requirements

The packaging must maintain its intended use within the expiration date of the drug;

For packaging that can be opened and closed repeatedly, the anti child opening function of the packaging must remain effective even after multiple opening and closing during drug use.

The contents of the packaging must not weaken or damage the anti child opening function of the packaging.

Opening the packaging (or reopening it in a reusable packaging) should not require abnormal vision, strength, or flexibility. The design of the packaging should also ensure that it can be easily used by ordinary people without the need for extraordinary strength or skill.

Repeatable opening and closing packaging

Must meet at least one of the following criteria:

(a) ISO 8317:2015 

(b) BS EN ISO8317:2015 

(c) CSAZ76.1-16 

(d) [1700.]15 & [1700.]20

(e) AS 1928-2007 

Disposable packaging

Packaging form:

The packaging of drugs must be blister or other sealing units, which must be made of paper, film, plastic material, metal foil or other sheet or strip materials, or a combination of these materials;

Each unit is individually sealed.

Prohibited materials:

Non reusable packaging cannot be made of cellulose film or non laminated paper.
